Description
Thermistors can detect changes in temperature much faster than RTDs, delivering faster feedback. Thus, thermistors are commonly used in applications that require low cost, small size, faster response rate, higher sensitivity, and with restricted temperature range such as with monitoring electronic equipment, building controls, scientific laboratories, or the cold-junction compensation used for thermocouples in commercial or industrial applications.
Type: This thermistor is a Negative Temperature Coefficient sensor, meaning its resistance drops as the temperature rises.
Power Draw: Higher resistance means less current flows through the sensor. This lowers power consumption and reduces internal self-heating (which can otherwise skew temperature readings).
Pros: Better sensitivity at slightly higher or lower ambient temperature ranges and excellent for battery-powered or noise sensitive circuits.
